HAMPTON COURT: BEHIND CLOSED DOORS

3 X 45 CHANNEL 5

We go behind the scenes of Henry VIII’s favourite pleasure palace, Hampton Court, set on the leafy West London banks of the River Thames.  Inside the palace, we meet the hosts, curators, and historic chefs who take us back to the Tudor heyday.

From a detective trail that leads to a fascinating and rare artefact belonging to Anne Boleyn, to a jacket worn by Charles II in battle, to a terrifying ghost story for Halloween, these 500-year-old walls are packed with surprises.

Out in the enormous grounds, we join the stable team looking after London’s only herd of working shire horses, the garden crew putting on a country’s largest tulip festival, and the curators creating a stunning WWI memorial.
